Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports
The Ministry of State for Youth Affairs (MOYA) was established on 7th December, 2005 to address youth concerns in Kenya. This was grounded on the realization that the Government may not achieve the UN Millennium Development Goals without adequately dealing with the many socio-economic challenges facing the country's youth. In May 2008 the Department of Sports was included to form the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
Since the youth in this country come under this ministry, Garissa Youth Project partners with the ministry to implement some of its activities. In conjunction with the Ministry of Youth Affairs, G-Youth promotes civic participation, sport organization and development of recreational facilities. The Ministry supports the project in addressing youth related issues in Garissa Municipality.
